Sunny Power Completes The World's First Large-Scale Combustion Test for Energy Storage Systems

On June 13th, Sunny Power demonstrated its full-scene clean energy space in Shanghai, which included five main areas: "Energy Base, Zero-Carbon Park, Zero-Carbon Family, Flexible Hydrogen Generation" and "Spiritual Experience Island", showcasing its full range of product strengths in the fields of photovoltaic, energy storage, charging, hydrogen energy and operation and maintenance, and embodying the features of integration, digital intelligence and multi-energy synergy.


At the exhibition site, Sunny Power announced the successful completion of the world's first large-scale combustion test empirical evidence of energy storage system, and the first release of ArcDefender™ Energy Storage DC Arc Pulling Technology White Paper, which comprehensively and deeply strengthens the construction of the safety line of defense.


At the exhibition site, DNV, an international authoritative certification body, issued the first large-scale combustion test certificate for global energy storage systems to Sunny Power. This test used a large-capacity energy storage real machine and simulated an actual scene, which can be said to be a real combat exercise.

In the presence of Engie, Solv, Idemitsu and many other global customers, Sunny Power took the initiative to conduct the combustion and explosion test of the real PowerTitan.


The structural integrity of the energy storage cabinet was successfully protected through a number of advanced designs such as air pressure sensing explosion relief, multi-layer fire-resistant structure and double compartment structure, and the fire did not spread during the 4-hour burning process.


Engie said, "In this real-life hardcore test, we saw the outstanding fire-resistant and flame retardant performance of the PowerTitan energy storage system. There was no destructive impact or splashing of foreign objects throughout the combustion process, which maximized the control of the combustion range and destructive force and ensured the safety of the personnel and power plant assets."

With the wide application of large-capacity and long-duration energy storage, the current and voltage levels on the DC side are increasing, which brings the challenge of increased safety risks caused by arc pulling. However, due to the complexity of the control logic of the energy storage system and the bottleneck of data transmission efficiency, DC arc pulling safety technology remains an unsolved problem.


Sunny Power has established an integrated technology platform utilizing its original dynamic algorithm for PCS arc-pull identification and core technologies such as high-precision sensing technology and risk data monitoring to realize the prediction, sensing and suppression of arc-pull risk. The platform has the functions of source arc prevention, accurate arc recognition and rapid arc extinguishing.


By improving the arithmetic power and applying AI self-learning technology, the platform can adapt to various complex scenarios, realize zero false alarms and missed alarms, achieve 100% accurate arc recognition, and quickly carry out arc extinguishing operations within 0.2 seconds.

At the exhibition, Sunny Power launched a high-power industrial and commercial string inverter technology innovation platform and released a set of overall solutions with DC-side fast shutdown function. The platform's flagship model, SG150CX, became one of the first products in the industry to pass the GB/T 29319-2024 standard certification.


In addition, Sunny Power also released the inefficiency diagnosis function of the self-developed new energy power station intelligent management system "Sunny Cloud". This function can timely and accurately identify the seven mainstream inefficiency problems in power stations, providing assistance for the improvement of operation and maintenance work and the increase of power station revenue.
